Yes. I've been thinking about it. The EMDR sessions are helping — I had my first full week without a nightmare since... I can't remember when. But I'm still hypervigilant. Every time a door slams at work, my whole body tenses up.

The nightmare reduction is significant progress. The hypervigilance often takes longer to resolve because it's a deeper nervous system pattern. How are you managing at work overall?

I moved to a desk away from the door. That helped. And I told my manager — not everything, just that I startle easily and loud noises are hard. She was understanding.

Dr. Mitchell

Self-advocacy is a really important skill. You're creating an environment that supports your healing. What about outside work?

Client

I started the yoga class you suggested. The first class I almost left because the room was dark and there were people behind me. But I stayed. The second class was easier.

Dr. Mitchell

You stayed even though it was uncomfortable. That's brave, Aisha. What made you stay?

Client

I kept telling myself: I'm safe, this is now, not then. Your voice was in my head honestly. And... I want my life back. I'm tired of my trauma running the show.
